Description

Verger’s Cottage is a circa 1900, L-shaped building of one storey and an attic. It has one wide bay on each side of the building. The timber frame features stout members with plaster filling above a stone rubble plinth. The tiled roofs have sprocketed eaves and a generous overhang; the gable ends have moulded bargeboards. An attic gable oversails and rests on a canted bay window with a dentil cornice. A rear wing’s roof sweeps down over a porch, which has twin elliptical arches evocative of mediaeval hall doorways. The porch features a 17th-century style balustrade. The windows are simple leaded casements.
