Description
North Cottage is a building dated 1609, although it has undergone significant alterations over the years. The house is two storeys tall and features four irregularly placed windows. It has a fairly high-pitched tiled roof that is hipped on the left side and has two rebuilt ridge stacks. The first floor is tile hung, while the ground floor is plastered. The windows are modern casements with configurations of 2, 3, 4, and 6 lights, and there is a neo-Georgian bow window on the right side, which may have originally been a shop. The entrance features a plank door beneath a dentil cornice hood. Some alterations date back to the 18th century, and there is a lean-to garage extension on the left side. The building is included in the listing partly for its group value, as it is part of a collection that includes The Old Manor, Court Cottage, St Nicholas Cottage, Priors' Mead, and the Walls and Gate Piers to the southeast of Priors' Mead.
