Description

Mead Cottage and Wistaria Cottage are a house of two to three build periods. Mead Cottage, located to the north, features two and a half bays of good-quality, early 17th-century timber framing, with brick infill, and a modern extension designed to imitate timber framing. The cottage has two storeys and an attic, with four modern casement windows. A high-pitched tiled roof is topped with two modern hipped dormers and an old compound ridge stack. This roof extends south over the first bay of Wistaria Cottage, which has an 18th-century red brick facade, though the interior may be older. The two southern bays of Wistaria Cottage date to the early 19th century, constructed in red brick under a low-pitched hipped slate roof. Segmental arches frame sash windows with glazing bars. An entrance is located on the left return under a gabled porch.
