Description
The Gables is a house from the mid-19th century located on Quality Street in Merstham. It has two storeys and features two windows. The roof is high-pitched and is covered with a combination of plain and fishscale tiles, with a gable over the projecting right bay. A smaller gable is positioned above the first-floor left window, breaking the eaves. The house has sash windows, with the first-floor windows featuring glazing bars and hoodmoulds above them. The entrance is a half-glazed door with a Tudor arch, set beneath a gabled hood supported by brackets. The building is noted partly for its group value, as it is part of a collection that includes Merstham Garage, The White Cottage, York Cottages, and Home Cottage, with The White Cottage and York Cottages being of local interest only.
