Description

This is a cottage dating from the early and late 19th century. It is constructed of rendered cob with a thatched roof. The main cottage is two storeys and two bays, with a side bay connecting to a single-storey weatherboarded addition, and a brick and slate outshot to the rear facing onto the lane. The front garden elevation features French windows on the right-hand side of both floors, and two-light casements to the left. A late 19th-century timber verandah, two storeys high, extends across the front; the upper level features a bowed openwork iron balustrade. The roof is hipped and overhangs the verandah. A stack is located on the ridge to the left of the centre. A small casement with a hood mould is present in the side bay, and there are two- and three-light casements in the addition. On the left side, a 19th-century four-panel door is situated to the left, sheltered by a shingled hip-roofed porch of massive oak timbers. A two-light casement is located above the porch, and a three-light casement is in the outshot.
