Description
Little Malt is a cottage and attached malting barn dating from the 18th century. It is constructed of flint with brick dressings and features a thatched roof, while the barn has a cob structure with a corrugated iron roof. The cottage is 1½ storeys high and consists of four bays, with a lower four-bay barn to the right. The cottage has 19th-century double doors in a solid frame, topped with a rubbed brick head and a moulded cornice. There is a single light window in the left bay and two-light casements in the left bays, all with similar heads, along with a 20th-century light in the center. The roof has four two-light casements in eyebrow dormers and is half-hipped, featuring external end stacks and a ridge stack to the right of center. The barn includes a planked door with a fanlight to the left, two-light casements with an opening above under the eaves in the center bays, and double doors to the right. This building was once part of the brewery of The Trout.
