Description
25 and 27 Church Road are a pair of houses built in the early 19th century and have been altered over time. They feature a roughcast exterior painted white, a slate roof, and a brick chimney stack. The houses have a double-depth plan with a square main block and one-bay side wings.
The front is three stories high with a symmetrical 2+2-bay center and two-story one-bay lean-to side wings, although the wing on No. 25 has been altered to have a flat roof. The ground floor includes tall French windows that are sheltered by a glass-roofed verandah extending across the side wings, which also contain the doorways. The first floor, including the wings, has 12-pane sash windows, while the second floor features 9-pane sashes. All windows have moulded architraves painted black. Notably, No. 25 displays a Sun insurance plaque between the first and second floors. The eaves are bracketed, and the roof is hipped with a central chimney stack. The rear and interior of the houses were not inspected.
