Description

Surrey House is a mid-19th century house, originally with a cellar, and now used as an office. It is a double-depth plan building, remodelled from an earlier structure. The front is colour-washed stucco, with a concealed roof behind a parapet. The design is classical in style, with two storeys and three bays. The front has raised quoins, a first-floor sill band, and a parapet with coping that matches the band. A rectangular, open-fronted porch with pilastered corners, a plain frieze, dentilled cornice, and balustraded parapet shelters the central doorway. Slender wrought-iron bar railings with dog-bars and gates are attached to either side of the porch, extending to the ends. The ground-floor windows are tripartite sashed, with narrow side lights, set within architraves with moulded sills and cornices. The first-floor windows are slightly smaller sashed windows with similar surrounds, and margin panes that imitate the side lights of the ground-floor windows. All windows have horizontal glazing bars. The interior of the building has not been inspected.
