Description
This is a house, now divided into two dwellings, dating from the early 18th century. It is located in West End, Witney. The house is constructed of roughly-layered limestone rubble, with a stuccoed front featuring rusticated pilaster strips. The roof is of gabled stone slate, with stone end stacks and a brick ridge stack. The original layout was a three-unit plan. It has two storeys and an attic, with a four-window front. The front door is an early 19th-century six-panelled design, with a decorative fanlight set within a moulded wooden architrave and bracketed flat hood. The windows are early 18th-century wood-mullioned and transomed cross windows. A late 19th-century gabled roof dormer contains a two-light casement window. To the right of the main house is an early 18th-century range built of similar materials; this is two stories high with a two-window front. It features old plank double doors with strap hinges and three cross windows of a similar style to those in the main house, topped by a matching roof dormer. The interior has not been inspected, but is likely to contain features of architectural interest.
