Description
This building, originally a single house and now divided into two dwellings, dates from the early 18th century and was altered around 1870. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble and features a gabled stone slate roof with brick stacks at either end. The layout consists of a two-unit plan with a through-passage. The building is two storeys high and has a five-window range.
The central entrance is a 20th-century door set within a mid-19th-century moulded wood architrave, with a bracketed flat hood above. To the right of the entrance, there are tripartite sash windows and mid-19th-century two-pane sashes, all with timber lintels. At the rear, there are late 18th-century two-storey wings made of similar materials on both the left and right sides.
Inside, No. 17c on the left features cased beams and a dog-leg staircase dating from around 1860. No. 19 has not been inspected but is likely to have interesting features as well.
