Description
Hideaway is a pair of houses dating from the late 17th century to early 18th century. They are built of coursed limestone rubble and feature a gabled stone slate roof with an end stack made of rendered stone finished in brick. The houses have a 2-unit plan, are two storeys high with an attic, and display a two-window range.
The entrance to the property includes a mid-19th century three-panelled door with an overlight, which is topped by a chamfered timber lintel and a bracketed flat hood. The windows are modern three-light casements, also with chamfered timber lintels, and there is a gabled roof dormer. To the rear right is an 18th-century range constructed of similar materials, which is one storey and has an attic. This section features an old plank door with strap hinges.
No.24A, located to the rear right, is made of limestone rubble and has concrete tile roofs. It includes mid-18th century and mid-19th century two-storey wings, which have modern doors and windows. Inside No.24, there are chamfered beams and winder stairs next to an open fireplace that has a wooden bressumer. The roof features a cambered collar-truss design with butt purlins.
