Description
Nos. 14 and 14A on West End is a house that has been converted into a shop and dwelling. It dates from the mid-18th century and has undergone later alterations. The building is constructed of coursed limestone rubble with a rendered front and features a gabled concrete tile roof, along with moulded ashlar end stacks. It has a two-unit plan with a central passage and stands two storeys tall with an attic, displaying a five-window range.
Above the central entrance, there is a bracketed stone pediment over an early 19th-century door that has a sill panel and two glazed panels, all set within a moulded wood frame. To the right, there is a 20th-century shop front. The windows are mid-19th-century horned sashes with six panes. There are also 19th and 20th-century rear wings and three gabled roof dormers. Inside, the building features quarter-turn stairs to the left and is noted for having a butt-purlin roof.
