Description
The Elm Tree Public House is an early 18th-century house, now a public house, located in the West End of Witney. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble, with a roughcast front, and has a gabled stone slate roof and a 20th-century brick ridge stack. The building follows an L-shaped plan with a rear left wing. It is two storeys high with a two-window front. A 20th-century door is positioned to the right. The house originally contained an early 18th-century six-pane sash window to the left and a late 18th-century tripartite sash window in the left bay. The rear left wing is of similar materials and features a stone end stack. The interior has not been inspected but is likely to be of interest. The right bay of the house has been truncated. The building is included on the list for its group value.
