Description

This barn and stable range, dating from the 18th century, stands approximately 15 metres east of Millwood Farmhouse. Constructed of coursed limestone rubble, the barn has a gabled roof covered in asbestos sheets. The layout comprises five bays, including a central threshing floor. Gabled porches are located on both sides, with early 20th-century brick outshuts placed at the front. A two-storey stable is situated to the left, featuring timber lintels over the doors and windows, along with stone steps leading to a plank door in the gable end that provides access to a granary. Inside the barn, the roof is supported by seven collar trusses with butt purlins. The stable interior contains chamfered ogee-stopped beams. The building is included on the list for its contribution to the group value of the surrounding buildings.
