Description

The Barn and Stable Range at Great Goytre is an 18th-century linear farm range constructed from rubble stone and topped with a corrugated asbestos roof. It includes a large barn on the right and lofted stables on the left. The barn features opposing doorways leading to a threshing floor, equipped with boarded doors and half doors. On the left side, the ground floor has two slit ventilators, while the upper loft has a square opening with a voussoired stone arch and seven closely spaced thin diamond mullions. To the right, a 19th-century cowhouse gable intersects the barn's facade.

The stable on the left has a central boarded door with segmental arched voussoirs. There are square window openings with similar arches flanking the doorway, as well as two-light windows with a central mullion and inside shutters. Originally, these windows included intermediate iron stanchions, but only one remains on the left window. The west gable has an upper doorway leading to a pitching loft and features 20th-century corrugated metal sheeting at the gable head. The opposing east gable is entirely stone, with a segmental arched pitching door in the upper section and two slit ventilators below.

The barn consists of five bays, supported by raking queen strut trusses and two tiers of purlins, with lofted storage bays on each side of the threshing floor.
