Description
Great Campston is a two-storey building constructed of thinly coursed rubble stone, topped with a hipped slate roof and featuring a projecting chimneystack at the gable. The front of the building is symmetrical, with the first floor showcasing five 20th-century horned sash windows, each with rendered sills. The ground floor has a central entrance doorway that is adorned with a 20th-century pedimented porch and a six-panel door. On either side of the entrance are two similar sash windows, which have concrete lintels with simulated voussoirs. To the right of the porch, there is a carved 17th-century stone tablet that features the coat of arms of the Vaughans of Tretower, flanked by fluted columns with volutes that rest on floral-decorated bases, supporting a moulded entablature.
Inside, the principal ground-floor rooms are located on either side of the entrance, with former service rooms at the rear. The interior has undergone significant refurbishment in the 20th century, including the addition of an 18th-century fireplace surround in the drawing room.
