Description

The Long Hanborough War Memorial is a First World War memorial cross built in 1919, with later additions for the Second World War. It is made of Cornish granite and features a grey Latin cross on a tapering shaft. The shaft rises from a square plinth that is supported by a three-stepped square base. At the base of the shaft, there is a dedication that reads “TO THE GLORIOUS/ MEMORY OF OUR/ GALLANT HEROES./ 1914 – 1919./ 1939 – 1945.” The names of those commemorated are inscribed on the plinth.

Surrounding the memorial is a mid-20th century raised memorial garden, which is paved and bordered by a low stone wall.
