Description

NORTH LEIGH WILCOTE SP31NE 5/186 Barn, stables and gardener's cottage approx. 20m W of Wilcote House GV II Barn and stable. C17, with later mostly mid C19 alterations. Coursed limestone rubble; gabled stone slate roofs; Dutch gable with pyramidal finials and clock turret to front of stable facing Wilcote House (q.v.). L-plan with stable to front left of barn. Stables: keyed segmental arches over plank door and three C17 two-light chamfered stone-mullioned windows to left side wall, and stone steps rise to loft door on right: corn bins and collar-truss roof with butt purlins to left. 5-bay barn has hipped porch to front and renewed collar-truss roof. Two C18 two-storey blocks to left of barn, making T-plan: late C19 mullioned windows and blocked gatearch to former coachhouse, now cottage; taller block to end has late C19 stacks with diagonally-set flues and oriel window.
