Description

This building complex consists of a barn, stables, and gardener's cottage, located approximately 20 meters west of Wilcote House. It dates from the 17th century, with significant alterations primarily from the mid-19th century. The structure is built from coursed limestone rubble and features gabled stone slate roofs. The stable has a distinctive Dutch gable with pyramidal finials and a clock turret facing Wilcote House. The layout is L-shaped, with the stable positioned to the front left of the barn.

The stables include keyed segmental arches above a plank door and three 17th-century two-light stone-mullioned windows with chamfered edges on the left side wall. Stone steps lead up to a loft door on the right side. Inside, there are corn bins and a collar-truss roof supported by butt purlins on the left. The barn has a hipped porch at the front and a renewed collar-truss roof.

To the left of the barn are two 18th-century two-storey blocks that create a T-plan. These blocks feature late 19th-century mullioned windows and a blocked gate arch that once led to a coachhouse, which is now a cottage. The taller block at the end has late 19th-century stacks with diagonally-set flues and an oriel window. This complex is included for its group value.
