Description
Champion and Company Limited is a shop and dwelling located at No. 7 St. Mary's Street in Wallingford. It dates from the late 18th century, with a shop front added in the 19th century. The building is constructed of grey brick with red brick dressings, and the roof and chimneys are not visible. It stands three stories tall and features a six-window range. The 19th-century shop front includes a painted wood panelled base and arch-topped windows framed with pilaster strips, supported by deeply carved brackets. There are glazed double doors to the left of the center and a six-panel part-glazed door with an overlight leading to a recessed porch on the right. The first floor has six 12-pane unhorned sash windows with cambered rubbed brick heads, while the second floor has six 6-pane unhorned sash windows, also with cambered rubbed brick heads. A plain brick parapet runs along the eaves. The ground floor has been altered in the 19th century to accommodate the shop.
