Description

Bala Racing Limited is a house that was formerly a public house, now serving as a betting shop. It likely dates from the mid-16th century, with alterations made in the 19th century and 20th-century shop windows added to the ground floor. The building features a rendered ground floor, probably on timber framing, and a roughcast first floor, also on timber framing. It has an old plain-tile cross-gabled roof with brick end stacks. The structure is two stories high and has a two-window range. A 20th-century glazed door is located at the center, with shop windows to the left and right of the center. To the left, there is a plank studded door with a wooden Tudor-arched doorway, which includes a Tudor rose in the left spandrel and a cartouche in the right spandrel. The first floor has 19th-century three-light casements. The building features two jettied cross-gables supported by moulded flattened Tudor-arched beams, each with carved and moulded pendants at the ends. The interior has not been inspected but is likely to be of interest. Historically, this building was known as the White Hart Inn and was owned by John Clack in 1561.
