Description
The Gables Nursing Home is a house that dates back to around 1840 and is now used as a nursing home. It is constructed of brick faced with lined stucco and features a hipped slate roof with rendered brick ridge stacks. The building has two storeys plus an attic and consists of a three-window range.
The central entrance has a pedimented doorway with a panelled door that is now partly glazed, along with panelled reveals and an overlight. On either side of the entrance are sash windows with glazing bars. The first floor features three sash windows with glazing bars, each surrounded by moulded stone. There are cornices supported by consoles, and the attic includes twin gabled full dormers with sash windows. The building has a wide eaves soffit and a moulded eaves cornice. The interior has not been inspected.
