Description

Little Warley Lodge is an early 19th century house, now operating as a nursing home. It is constructed of yellow brick with hipped slate roofs. The main building is rectangular, with smaller service blocks attached to the northwest end.

The north-east front has five bays, featuring a central projecting stuccoed portico with a plain cornice. The entrance doorway is early 19th century, with reeded flush panels to the lower half and reeded glazing bars within the upper glazed section. All windows are sash windows with glazing bars, typically in a 3x4 pane arrangement. Three upper windows have louvred shutters and stuccoed reveals. The northwest service block has two bays, with sash windows with glazing bars; the ground floor windows are 3x4 and 4x4 panes respectively, while the first-floor windows are two 3x4 pane sashes. A second service block is set further back.

The south-east garden elevation also has five bays and similar sash windows with stuccoed reveals and glazing bars. Ground-floor windows have shaped wooden blind boxes, and first-floor windows have louvred shutters. The southwest rear elevation is somewhat irregular. The main block has three bays, with a rendered stack. Original sash windows remain on the ground floor, alongside alterations including a widened window opening with a French window and a fanlight casement window, all with glazing bars. First-floor windows have stuccoed reveals and glazing bars. The northwest rear features two service units built in two phases, evident by a straight joint. Irregular fenestration is seen, with segment-headed windows on the earlier block and glazing bars on the later block. A 20th century brick lean-to extends from the northwest end.

The interior includes some re-set Jacobean-style panelling. Original doors feature reeding and corner rosettes. The stairwell is lit by an oval lantern, and the staircase retains its original design including twisted balusters and a mahogany handrail with brackets to the treads.
