Description
The Old Rectory, now a nursing home, dates from the early 19th century, with later 20th-century additions and alterations. It is constructed of stucco, featuring hipped slate roofs and two ridge stacks and one side wall stack. The building has a plinth and renewed eaves band and is arranged over two storeys with a seven-by-four window front. Most windows are original sash windows with glazing bars. The south-facing garden front has a central, projecting bay with a hipped roof and three windows on each floor. Flanking the bay are two windows on each floor. To the left are flat-roofed two-and three-window additions. The east-facing entrance front displays regular fenestration with four windows on each floor, one of which has been altered. A single-storey, flat-roofed porch with a moulded doorway flanked by pilasters sits to the right, housing a fielded six-panel door with a fanlight. The interior features a square stairwell with a wooden cantilever staircase, stick balusters, and a ramped scrolled handrail. A coved ceiling with a patterned border and foliage boss is also present, along with two round-arched doorways with moulded six-panel doors. Two rooms retain moulded cornices and Adam-style wooden fireplaces.
