Description
The dovecote located in the centre of The Green in Clifton is an early 18th-century structure that was restored around 1970. It is built from red brick and features rendered coped gables with kneelers. The roof is covered with shingles and is topped by two renewed square louvres with pyramidal roofs. A brick band runs along the first floor, and there are flight holes in both gables. On the north side, there is a small door covered with a 20th-century sheet metal cover. The south side displays a roll of honour dating from around 1918. This dovecote is notably large for the area, containing 2,300 nest boxes.
