Description
Clifton School is a village school dated 1871, established by Henry Robert Clifton. It is built of red brick with ashlar dressings and features a slate roof in the Renaissance Revival style. The building has a chamfered plinth and quoins, along with dentillated eaves. The windows are wooden framed cross casements, and the school is a single storey with a three-window range. The centre bay slightly projects and features an elaborate shaped gable that incorporates a bell turret topped with a wind vane. There is a two-light window with a stone mullion and a segmental pediment below the gable, which also displays a datestone and coat of arms. The side bays each have a single window under cornices.
