Description
The George Wells Almshouses, built in 1709, are located in Clifton, Nottingham. The building has been altered and restored in the late 20th century. It is constructed of brick, which is painted and rendered, and features a plain tile roof with three ridge stacks. The central bay is two storeys high, while the side wings are single storey. There are a total of 11 windows, all of which are renewed wooden framed casements or cross casements. The central bay has a projecting gable with two brick bands. A modern flat-roofed porch with a glazed door and sidelights is located at the front, flanked by single cross casements, and above it are two similar windows. Between the floors, there is an inscribed slate datestone. Each side wing has four windows, and each return features a gabled porch, also modern, with a glazed door and sidelights.
