Description
No. 81 (Thornton's) and No. 82 (Expressions) are two shops housed in a late 19th-century building. The structure is made of red brick with stone window surrounds and stands four storeys tall, featuring a two-window range. The shop fronts were updated in the 20th century. The upper floors are adorned with tripartite sash windows that have moulded stone surrounds. There is a flat band at the second floor level and a dentilled brick eaves cornice below the parapet. The interiors of the ground floor have been remodelled in the 20th century. This building is included for its group value.
