Description

The Post Office, located at Nos. 12 and 14 on Broad Street in Eye, is a late 19th-century building featuring two shops with accommodation above. It is constructed of red brick and has a slate roof. The building stands three storeys high and has a four-window range. The ground floor includes doorways on the right and left, framed by rendered doorcases with hoods supported on brackets. No. 14 has a plate-glass shop front, while No. 12 features two 2/2 horned sash windows, both set under gauged skewback arches with cambered hood moulds. Each floor above has four 2/2 horned sash windows, all with cambered gauged skewback arches and keyblocks. The roof is gabled with a central ridge stack. This building is part of a very significant group in the centre of Eye and is included for its group value.
