Description
16 and 18 Broad Street is a house that was originally a police station, built in the mid-19th century. It is constructed from gault brick and has a slate roof. The building has two storeys and features a three-window range. Rusticated quoins are present on both the north and south sides. There are two half-glazed doors; the left door is set under a rendered and painted gauged arch, while the right door is within a stuccoed doorcase that has consoles beneath a hood. On either side of the right door, there is one unhorned sash window without glazing bars, both set beneath rendered and painted gauged arches. The first floor has two 6/6 unhorned sash windows, and to the left, there is a blind painted window. The building is topped with a dentil eaves cornice and has a gabled roof that is hipped to the south. The stack has been removed. Inside, there is a stick-baluster staircase.
