Description

No. 1 Castle Street is a shop built in the mid-19th century. It features colourwashed brick and a slate roof, standing two storeys tall with a three-window range. To the right, there is a carriageway under a depressed four-centred arch. The ground floor has a mid-19th century shop front, with panelled pilasters on either side that rise to scrolled consoles supporting a dentilated hood. The shop front includes plate glass set within plain vertical muntins and a half-glazed door to the right, which is framed by the pilasters. On the first floor, there are two 6/6 unhorned sash windows and a painted blind window to the left. The roof is gabled and there are no chimney stacks. Inside, there is a stick-baluster staircase.
