Description
No. 5 Castle Street is a shop with accommodation above, built around 1830. It features colourwashed brick and a roof made of black-glazed pantiles. The building has two storeys and a four-window range. The shop front includes two late 19th-century plate glass windows, framed by five fluted Doric semi-columns that rise to a plain entablature and hood. A four-panelled door is situated between the display windows. To the left, there is a separate entrance to private apartments, which has a four-panelled door within a timber doorcase, also under a hood supported by consoles. The first floor is illuminated by four 1-, 2-, and 3-light 20th-century metal casement windows. The roof is gabled and features a transverse ridge stack on the left side. The interior has not been inspected.
