Description
No. 18 Castle Street is a house that was formerly a public house, converted to a residence in the late 20th century. It features an early 18th-century timber frame with a late 19th-century painted brick facade and has a pantiled roof. The building is two storeys high and has a four-window range. There is a half-glazed door located to the left of center, which is topped by an overlight. To the left of the door, there is a five-light cross casement window, and to the right, there are two three-light cross casements. A string course runs along the first floor. On the first floor, there is one five-light and three two-light cross casements. The building is topped with a crenellated parapet and has a gabled roof with an internal gable-end stack on the north side. Inside, the timber frame is incomplete, but one room features large-framed early 18th-century panelling.
