Description
No. 16 Church Street is a house that was formerly a public house, dating from the early 18th century, with later raising in the late 18th century and mid-19th century alterations. It is constructed of red brick, which is colour washed, and features a pantile roof with two gable stacks. The building has an L-plan and is two storeys high with a four-bay front. The central entrance consists of a six-panelled door with an overlight, framed by a plain wooden surround and a short hood. To the left of the entrance are two plain sash windows with a heavy plain stucco surround that includes key blocks and a blocked arch above. To the right is a plain tripartite window. On the first floor, there are four glazing bar sash windows. All the windows have segmental heads with painted splayed lintels. This building is included in the listing for its group value.
