Description

The drinking fountain located at the north end of the Market Place in Alford was built in 1897. It is made of polished red granite and features a square base topped with a shaft that has an octagonal knopped conical top. On either side of the fountain, there are brass spigots, and on one side, there is a projecting semi-circular basin. Above this basin, a recessed semi-circular headed panel displays the inscription "Diamond Jubilee 1897," while another inscription on the side reads "Victoria 1837-1901." The fountain is included in the listing for its group value.
