Description
No. 6 High Street is a house that has been converted into offices. It dates from the late 18th century and was altered in the early 19th century. The building is made of colourwashed brick with stucco dressings and features a slate roof with stone-coped gables, as well as a single gable and wall stacks.
The front of the building is three stories high and has three bays. It includes a stucco plinth, paired eaves brackets, and stucco quoins. The central entrance consists of half-glazed, panelled double doors set within a wooden doorcase, which has panelled reveals and a blank fanlight above. To the left of the entrance is a single tripartite glazing bar sash window, while to the right is a similar but plain sash window.
On the first floor, there is a central glazing bar sash window flanked by two tripartite glazing bar sashes. The second floor features three smaller similar windows. The tripartite windows have segmental glazing bar fanlights, and all windows are topped with cambered brick heads that have stucco keyblocks adorned with painted Maltese crosses. Decorative cast iron rainwater hoppers are located on either side of the facade.
Inside, the building retains an early 19th-century moulded wooden fire surround and architraves, which have paterae at the corners, along with panelled doors.
