Description

No. 26 (C.B. & M. Sutton) is a shop located on the west side of South Market Place in Alford. It was built in the early 19th century, with a late 19th-century shop front. The building is constructed of colourwashed brick and features stucco dressings, topped with a hipped slate roof. It has two storeys and a two-bay front, which includes a brick sill band on the first floor.

The central entrance consists of a half-glazed panelled door with an overlight, flanked by double shop windows that have cast iron moulded mullions and spandrels. The plain fascia above the windows is supported by battered Greek style pilasters that have a key design and swept capitals. On the first floor, there are two glazing bar sash windows, each with moulded stucco architraves.
