Description

No. 42 Castle Street is a house that originated as a pair of early 18th century houses, which were converted into a single residence in the mid-20th century. The exterior features a rendered and colourwashed timber frame set on a brick plinth, topped with a roof made of asbestos slates. The building stands two storeys tall and has a single-window range. On the left side, there is a four-panelled door with the upper two panels being fielded, framed by a panelled doorcase with a hood. To the right, there is another door, a plank door, also within a doorcase with a hood. Each floor has a centrally located four-light casement window from the 20th century. The roof is gabled and includes an internal gable-end stack on the east side. The interior has not been inspected.
