Description
Regency House is a house that originated from three late 16th century houses, which were later altered and converted into a single residence in 1976. The building features a roughcast and colourwashed timber frame set on a brick plinth, topped with a roof made of black-glazed pantiles. It has a lobby-entrance plan and stands two storeys tall with a three-window range.
The façade includes three doorways: the left doorway is four-panelled, the one to the right of centre is half-glazed, and the one to the far right is of plank construction. All three doorways date from the 19th century and have timber doorcases. Between the central doors, there is an early 19th century bowed shop display window with multiple glazing bars and a reeded bottom rail. To the left of the elevation, there is a three-light early 19th century metal casement window, while the first floor features three three-light casements from the 20th century. The building has a gabled roof with a rendered ridge stack located to the left of centre. At the rear, there are three outshuts from various dates in the 19th and 20th centuries.
Inside, the house has chamfered bridging beams with tongue stops. The brickwork in the stack is from the 16th century, but the fireplaces were rebuilt in the 20th century. A late 20th century winder staircase has been inserted in the entrance lobby.
