Description
No. 2 Lowgate Street is a house dating from the late 18th century and mid 19th century. It features a timber frame and clay lump construction with a mid 19th century painted brick facade, topped by a slate roof. The building has two storeys and a three-window range. The elevation is accented by side pilasters and a platband between the floors. The central entrance door has six panels, with the upper two being glazed, and is topped by a narrow overlight beneath a floating hood supported by consoles. The windows are 2/2 horned sashes, with the one above the door lacking glazing bars, and all windows are adorned with gauged skewback arches. The roof is gabled. Inside, there is a staircase featuring two bobbin-turned balusters per tread.
