Description

No. 1 George Street is a shop built in the early 19th century. It features colourwashed brick and has a roof covered with 20th-century concrete pantiles. The building stands three storeys high and has a two-window range. The late 19th-century shop front includes plate glass, a dentil frieze, and a recessed central door. To the immediate left, there is a small two-light window beneath a concrete lintel. On the first floor, there are two 2/2 horned sash windows set under segmental gauged arches and within flush frames. The second floor has two similar sash windows, also with horns. The roof is gabled and hipped at the rear. Inside, the rear ground-floor room contains a mid-18th-century shell cupboard, while other areas have undergone 20th-century alterations.
