Description

Barclay's Bank is a building located on Hall Quay in Great Yarmouth, originally constructed in 1784 and remodelled in 1854 by Anthony Salvin. The building is constructed of red brick and stone, with a slate roof. It is three storeys high, with a five-window range. The ground floor is rusticated stone, with rusticated stone quoins extending the full height. A central porch projects forward, featuring a round archway beneath a balustrade, all rusticated. There are two arched windows on either side of the porch on the ground floor; the window to the south was partially blocked in the late 20th century. The upper two floors are brick, with five two-over-two sash windows on each floor. The first-floor sashes are taller and have pediments above them; the second-floor sashes have small consoles beneath the sills. The roof is hipped, with wall stacks located to the north and south. The interior dates from the late 20th century.
