Description
No. 4 Broad Row is a shop with living accommodation above, dating from the late 18th century. The building is constructed of brick and topped with a pantiled roof. It stands three storeys tall and features a three-window range. The late 20th-century plate-glass shop front extends over Nos 3 and 5. On the first floor, there is a central timber canted bay window fitted with 6/6 and 2/2 unhorned sashes, flanked by two 6/6 unhorned sashes, all within flush frames and under gauged skewback arches. The second floor has had its three windows replaced with a mix of casements and sashes of hybrid type in the 20th century, also under gauged skewback arches. A 20th-century gable head is visible above the parapet. The rear of the building has large late 20th-century brick extensions. Inside, there is a large four-centred arch at the rear, originating from the 19th century, while the rest of the interior is plain. The roof was renewed in the late 20th century.
