Description
No. 6 Broad Street is a pair of houses now used as a single residence. The south house dates from the early 17th century, while the north house is from the early 18th century. Both houses feature a rendered and colourwashed timber frame, with the south house having a slate roof and the north house a black-glazed pantile roof.
The south house has a baffle-entry plan and is two storeys tall with a three-window range. It has two four-panelled doors, with the left door featuring a hood supported by scrolled consoles. Between the doors is a three-light 19th-century cross casement window, which has a hood mould with label stops. The first floor has two two-light casements and one double two-light casement, all with hoods on label stops. The roof is gabled, and there is a ridge stack located to the right of centre. The south gable includes a horned tripartite sash window on the ground floor without glazing bars, a first-floor timber balustrade leading to a verandah with a canted bay window, and an attic with a two-light casement that is truncated by the pentice verandah roof.
The north house is also two storeys but has a two-window range. The right side projects and contains 20th-century timber garage doors along with a two-light casement window on the first floor. The left side features a double two-light casement at ground level and a two-light casement above. The roof is gabled, and there are no stacks. The interior has not been inspected.
