Description
Nos. 63 and 63A on High Street are two shops with living accommodation above. No. 63 is a 16th century or earlier timber-framed building that was altered and extended in the early 18th century and further modified in the mid-19th century. The exterior features brown stock brick with red brick dressings and a hipped tiled roof. The building has three storeys and three windows, with a moulded wooden eaves cornice. The first floor has three windows, except for the central window, which is a curved blank. The mid-19th century window lacks glazing bars but includes horns. A cast-iron shop sign bracket is attached to the center of the first floor. The ground floor of No. 63A has mid-19th century stucco, grooved to imitate masonry, with a French window, while No. 63 features a mid-19th century shopfront with a fascia that has a Greek Key design, pilasters, and a shopfront. Inside, there is an open fireplace with a wooden bressumer and exposed beams.
