Description

Pear Tree Cottage is a small, late 17th-century cottage located on West Street in Shutford. The building is constructed of coursed ironstone rubble and features a steeply pitched thatched roof with a brick end stack. It has a single-unit plan and is one storey high with an attic. The entrance is at the end and has a plank door within a moulded wooden frame, topped by a wooden lintel. The front elevation incorporates a two-light casement window with a wooden lintel, while a gable end on the left has two-light casements set in wooden frames. Internally, the cottage retains a stud partition, exposed beams, and an inglenook fireplace.
