Description
The George and Dragon Public House is a public house dating from 1700, as indicated by the datestone R/W/M. It features 20th-century additions and alterations. The building is constructed of squared, coursed ironstone and has a steeply pitched roof covered with 20th-century tiles. There are brick stacks at the ridge and ends, and the gables are stone-coped with moulded kneelers. The layout is a two-unit plan, and the building is positioned end on to the road. It has two storeys plus an attic. The end elevation displays two sash windows on the ground floor, which are topped with stone flat arches. On the first floor, there is a 3-light wood casement window set in an old wood frame, also with a stone flat arch above. The attic features a 2-light casement window, and the datestone is located above this. The building is accented with stone quoins.
