Description
Monastery Farmhouse is a mid-17th century farmhouse, altered in the 20th century. It is constructed of regular coursed ironstone rubble with a steeply pitched 20th-century tile roof. The building features red and blue brick shafts on stone bases to the ridge and end stacks. The farmhouse has a three-unit plan and two storeys, with a three-window front. The entrance, on the right-hand side, has a plank door, a wooden lintel, and a hood. The ground floor has 20th-century windows with wooden lintels, and a three-light stone mullioned window with a hood mould and label stops. The first floor also has 20th-century windows with wooden lintels. The left end of the building has two three-light and one two-light (blocked) stone mullioned windows, fitted with 20th-century casements. Inside, the farmhouse retains beams and an inglenook fireplace with a bread oven. The property was formerly known as College Yard.
