Description
No. 1 West Street is a house dating from the 17th to early 18th century, constructed of coursed ironstone rubble. It features a steeply pitched thatched roof and a brick end stack, situated on a corner site. The building has a two-unit plan and stands two storeys tall with a two-window range. The entrance, located to the right, has a 20th-century door set in a moulded wood frame, topped with a thatched hood. Flanking the entrance are three-light wood casement windows, which have wrought-iron casement fasteners and wood lintels. There are two similar windows on the first floor. The interior includes chamfered spine beams, two open fireplaces, and another narrowed early 19th-century fireplace. A first-floor room features a series of rectangular small plasterwork panels that incorporate a fleur-de-lys design, and there is a shallow-vaulted stone cellar.
