Description

Ivy Lane Cottage, formerly known as Orchard House, is a late 17th-century house with alterations from the 18th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of coursed ironstone rubble and has a steeply pitched thatched roof with a stone ridge stack. The house is positioned at the end of the lane, forming an L-shaped plan. It has two storeys plus an attic. A 20th-century door serves as the side entrance. The gable facing the road features three-light metal casement windows within wooden frames and wooden lintels on the ground floor. First-floor and attic windows are 20th-century replacements but retain the original wooden lintels. An eyebrow dormer is present on the left side, and a half-dormer sits above the garage entrance on the right. Inside, the house has chamfered beams and an inglenook fireplace with a bressumer.
