Description

Olde Grimes Cottage is a small cottage dating from the 17th century, constructed from uncoursed ironstone rubble. It features a steeply pitched thatched roof, which is said to cover stone slates, and has a brick shaft on a stone stack. The cottage has a two-unit plan and stands two storeys high with a two-window range. The entrance, located to the left, has a plank door set in a moulded wood surround with a hood above. To the right of the entrance are 20th-century windows. On the first floor, there are two 2-light windows. The rear of the cottage includes a dormer window positioned high in the thatch. A single-storey extension on the left end has a corrugated iron roof. The interior is said to feature beams and an inglenook fireplace.
